I have mine set at 77E. That is the setting for anodized aluminum according to the manual. Myself, my wife and a couple of buddies all have the duratrax and they are all pretty accurate when the setting is correct. I have tested mine against a raytek (which are GREAT temp gauges) and it was always within 1 to 2 deg.'s. I hope this helps!

the best way i found to adjust is to take your temp gun, get a regular outdoors thermometer.. put it in the shade and let it adjust.. now take your temp gun and check the temp of a random item. i use the side of my house. the reading you get should be close to what you have on your outdoor therm... if not make an adjustment to the temp gun and recheck untill your temp gun reads close to the temp on the thermometer... just remember the original setting if your still not reading correctly after so you can reset to factory,, i didnt need to make any adjustments to my Duratrax Temp Gun. was fine otb.

made the adjustment and truck was running at about 320 so i richen it up a pinch and could only get it down to like 280 before it start runny crappy. So im worndering if it cause im running it in my back yard which is gras and could use a mow job. And by the time is shifts in second im braking within couple feet to turn around. So the engine is running at its highest rpm most of the time in my yard. But it wheelies like a **** so does this sound logical? Im about to through the damn temp guage away cause it runs sweet and trails smoke when i get on it.

erawtik,
Are you making sure you are checking the temps holding the gauge about an inch away and making sure the guage is square with the head (not angled) and pointed directly at the glow plug. Do not get me wrong, I am not saying you are donig it wrong, I am just trying to help get to the bottom of things. I notice a difference just angling it from side to side, that is one of the reasons I tested my gauge against a raytek. I found that putting it about an inch away and pointing straight down at the glow plug it would only be 1 to 2 deg. off of, if not dead on with the raytek. I hope this helps and let me know... GOOD LUCK!!!
