Default Flying with Ti OFF...

Well, I have mostly flown this thing with Ti on and only off when in the house. Outside condition have been perfect and for the past 2 days, I have been flying solely with Ti turned off. I have to say that I have gotten real good at this and must say I am enjoying the "NEW" found flight characteristics of my DF V Ti. Really fast forward flights and sharp bank turns are just some of the benefits I have discovered with Ti turned off. Now I'm not saying that It has not been a challenge, but I am having ALOT of fun flying it this way (15 years of r/c heli experience has also helped). I plan on to continue flying this way and hone my skills even further. One more note, I have noticed with Ti turned off, so far my DF V Ti has not experienced the "wobbles" in any form at all.

Default RE: Flying with Ti OFF...

Getting good with the DF with TI off is one of my major goals...I've been slowed down considerably by this damn (sorry) shoulder injury. At the moment, I'm Ok, but I'm going to have surgery in a few weeks and then I'll be back to one arm for six weeks after that. Sigh.

I've always heard the "wobbles" associated with TI...You can even see wobbles in some of DFI's self-hovering demo videos. It makes good sense, actually, but it's reassuring to hear that you haven't seen wobbles with TI off!

(And av8er, sorry I haven't posted the rotor pics yet...three are done, and I'm struggling with the last one. I gave up on my first attempt; the paint just did not work out well. I've started over again with Krylon Fusion and it's going better.)

No worries bud. I just like to see other peoples rotor art. Just post them when you have them.

Default RE: Flying with Ti OFF...

Just had my first real outdoor flight[>:]......!
Nope!! Did not crash thanks to TI i must say! lol
i tried after that with TI disabeld, but thats still a diffrent story
I also got a case of the "wobbels" like you all say, i was about 25 meters up and
in a stable hover, then he moved forward( i didn't touch my Tx) leveld again
and starded to wobbel for about 5 sec. then all was normal again (not my heart!lol[:'(])
for this moment being i gonna stick to TI and get beter ath flying around.
sombody flying CF blades @ the moment??

@ Dreddy,
I used to use CF rotors, but then the nylon blades where released and I've never looked back. The CF ones have there benefits, but overall the stability and added lift of the new rotors make a bigger difference. Although the CF rotors make the DF fly like a porsche, the nylon rotors are more like a Lexus, and the foam rotors well they just suck. What are your thoughts?

@ Thread discussion,
As for flying with Ti disabled I like the added challenge. Ti is good for those hairy situations when it looks like you might crash, but otherwise I fly with it off. The hardest part about flying with Ti off is when your flying towards you and all the stick movements are reversed. I don't recommend trying this unless you have mastered it with the Ti on. Can anyone else fly in all directions regardless of orientation and stick movement?

Default RE: Flying with Ti OFF...

I started doing photo and video work about a year ago and recently got a SAVS I've flown helicopters for about 6 years and the DF is the easiest most stable helicopter I've ever flown(even with TI off). I only use TI for video or photo work and the only time I ever had the wobbles is with the TI on. The SAVS came with the Futaba 6EXAP radio and being able to setup EXPO for your flying style and abillity level is very helpful. I fly a lot of extreme 3D with my other helicopters and know the radio setup is as important as the heli's setup. It came with the new style blades so I don't know what the foam ones were like. I tried the CF blades but I like the way it flies better with the new blades. Without the TI on this thing is a fun and fairly responsive little heli, for a fun relaxing day at the field the DF is the best.
Happy Flyin...
Lacey
