Seagull Models Zero
Hi all,
Has anybody built the Seagull Models ARF Zero ?
I have just finished one and I am very pleased with it except one thing.
There is no mention of a CG position and when I contacted Seagull direct, I got an email saying:-
"if you build it as the instructions then you don't need to worry about it" ??
A bit weird as there is no recomended position in the instructions for the reciever or battery.
I have balanced the finished model where I think (1/3rd wing) and would need to add about 1lb of lead to get it close, dos'nt seem right.
Any ideas or anybody Know the correct position.

OK the engine is a little light. we run them with a saito91 much heavier. don't forget to turn the plane upside down then 3cm from the leading edge . hope it helps
PS this plane like a little airspeed to do its thing and also needs some landing space like most war birds they tend to drop a wing close to stall so better to have some space .
best

Thanks for the help but 3cm from the LE is very far forward that's less than 10% of the root wing cord. I would need about 2lb of lead to get it near there!
The aeroplane is designed for a .46 I have a square aluminium silencer (heavier than norm) a three blade prop and a aluminium spinner nut so all in all this is heavier than recomended.
If you are right then somebody at seagull models got there design badly wrong !

interesting where is your batt and receiver up front i hope, on the second ques our plane flies marvelously with out any extra weight
on the other hand when we first tried our plane with a 46tt we had to add +- 60g but that was all . we do use a big batt 1600mah so some extra there also allu spinner. it also flew well but extra power was for sure needed. hope you can fix the cg thing all that is most important is that you don't fly it tail heavy foresure recipe for crash.

4cm from the LE edge at the tips - now we are getting somewhere.
Normally designers tend to set thier measurements from the LE at the root of the wing. (we tend to balance them at the tips as it is easier), this should make a big difference, as this is a tapered wing.
Thanks again
