Alkalein batteries are a waste of money. If you are sticking with AA batteries, get some good rechargeable nimh batteries. The higher mah the better. For best results, get a 6v hump pack.

4 standard alkalein batteries last no time at all in the Savage. A 6v 1400mah hump pack will last 2-3 hours. 4 2300mah nimh batteries should last 5 hours or so.

Here is the type of hump pack you will need: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...&I=LXKKF2&P=ML

Or, go to maxamps.com and pick one up for around $15. I have some from there and they work great. Plus, they come with a charge lead.

Is your battery box cracked or broken, or are the springs inside the battery box damaged? I've had a problem where the cells slide out of the box because the box is cracked. If you run 4 rechargable AA's, note that the preformance of your servos will go down because you are only giving them 4.8 volts (1.2 volts/cell x 4), compared to alkaline batteries (1.5 volts/cell x 4) which is 6.0 volts. In order to get 6.0 volts with rechargeable cells, you'll need to run a 5 cell hump pack as linked by alvinl.

Oh and I suggest you don't type in caps. Typing in caps is typically interpreted as yelling, and I think more people would be reluctant to help you if you're yelling at them.
