Watched the ceremony online during lunch. Cheesy name they chose for it...The Lightning II. Named after the P-38 and British Lightning. I'm ready to see it in the air...gonna make sure my son sees the first flight too.

I believe that would be one of the plywood displays. We've got two sitting on the assembly line floor (at Lockheed).

i really like the appearance of the design changes. especially at the inlets. i guess they have run out of ideas for naming fighters. Is this one of the vtol versions?

This one belongs to the Air Force...conventional take off. Not sure when the vtol is slated for production on the line.

Hey FalconWings, is that not one of the rigs in the background in which the static displays are sent? I've seen a least two disassembled and tucked away in one of those rigs outside of building 176.

Here's hopin that Canada gets her s**t together and orders a bunch to replace our Hornets. I know we are getting the A+ upgrade but 80 fighters for the second largest country in the world. Give me a break. Dam Liberals.

Nice Toy,
it looks bigger than the wooden mock up, how does the size compares to the F-15/F-16?

It is considerably smaller than an F-15. It is very similar in size to an F-18E/F. It is deffinetely bulkier than a Falcon, but not a lot larger.

Yeap, sure looks like the rig, but that is the display model on that pic. Not sure if they actually put the display model in there, or weather it is for the traveling simulator.
