Default LA Racer-40

Anybody flying this World Models ARF?
My center of gravity turned out to be way far back, but with the battery in the cowling and a 2.5 oz brass spinner nut I think it will turn out OK. What did you do?

I just got one and am currently doing the assembly. There are only two reviews on the site but one of them had the same problem. I will be interested in any other comments on this model.
I will be using a Magnum 46 which should weigh a bit more than the O/S LA40. Positioning the engine could be part of the problem.

After finishing the LA Racer 40 I installed a Thunder Tiger Pro 46 with an aluminum prop nut and 11X6 prop. The CG appeared to be dead on the book settings with empty tank. On the first flight it was apparent that the plane was a bit nose heavy so I moved the battery and receiver aft about 1/2 inch. The next flight proved that this was not enough shift in weight. I have had to add about 1/2 oz of weight between the holes for the the horizontal stab. This should take care of any CG problems. I'll know tomorrow.

That's interesting, Hud - thanks for the info.

My final adjustment was to put the battery back where they suggested in the foam. I've still got the 2.5 oz spinner and have added 1.5 oz of lead to the firewall. It seems about right now.
Why there should be so much difference I really don't know unless you like 'em livelier and I like 'em more stable :-)
