Truggys don't always have bigger engines (many racers infact prefer .21 as they tend to rev higher) although your right that a .28 is the norm for RTR.

Apart from the (IMHO) better looks than a buggy, there is often slightly more ground clearance and the size can also be appealing. I think mostly the advantage is you like the truck look more than the buggy. Personal choice.

I'm sure there's plenty advantages/disadvantages though. Someone will set you straight, i can't think of any as it completely depends on your specific application. Hope this is of some help.

Truggies can handle rougher terrain, like a MT. They also turn better than an MT. They are usually a little longer and wider than a buggy and have bigger tires, making them very stable. The best of both worlds. Only disadvantage (and it's a big one), buggies are faster.

Buggies aren't nessecarily faster. I have seen truggies keep up with buggies. The only real disadvantage is the truggys' size and price. They all can't be ran on small tracks nor can they be really competitive on a tight budget. (Like a teenager budget)

Umm, buggies are faster. Don't even try to start that debate. Take one driver, a MT, a truggy and a buggy. Buggy wins every time. As for cost, they can both be expensive, but niether has to be expensive. If you'd be satisfied racing with a middle-of-the-road RTR, they both cost about the same. For all around play and race, the truggy is the way to go.

No not at all, if you can afford to be competative with a buggy there is no reason why you can't afford to be competative with a truggy. I don't really understand why cost has been brought into things.

Look at the cost of an inferno SP2 and an STR, there isn't much in it by the time you've added electronics and an engine etc.... However you can get an RTR buggy MUCH cheaper than an RTR truggy. All depends on what you plan on using it for.

Bottom line, if your only looking to spend a couple of hundred dollars for something to bash with forget a truggy just now. If your prepared to spend the cash required to buy a pro rig, you might as well buy a truggy if thats what you like.

well, i'd love to race, but there are no people to race, and no tracks. so basically, it will be and on road car sometimes, but mainly offroad when i can get to the dirt places with hills and jumps.
so, you could say it will be for bashimg.

i would look at the terrain you're going to be runnning in. if its not so bad, i would go with a buggy, if it is real bad, i would go for a monster truck. don't get too discouraged about the terrain though, because my buggy will go through some really ruff area's. its usually really tall stought weeds that will slow or stop my running.
