That one looks very similar to the 3 racing one. The 3racing one is made from very thin/soft alloy and bends easy.
If your heart is set on a tank guard go for either the GPM or preferably the New Era one as they are stronger.. Keeping in mind also they will not prevent a tank from breaking due to a popped shock punching into the tank from behind or due to the shock of the tank hitting the TVP's on a hard landing

I created my own tank guard. Its not strong by any means, but it cost about £1 and I have slammed it into a tree several times and it has protected my tank. And the good thing is that I used my own design, so it has another piece of metal that protects the tank from behind attacks, something none of the ones you buy do. I'll try and post some pics sometime.

Heres some pics.

These were taken when I had my car apart to fix a one way bearing issue. It is made out of 1mm thick steel. If you were a racer then you could pay more for a sheet of aluminum to make it lighter, but i'm not a racer so that didn't bother me. You will also have loads of sheet metal left, which I used to make a centre skid plate, that cost £0 as I already had the metal!

Those are a nice guard! How did you bend the metal to the proper shape? Also, how did you fasten the edges of the metals together to make a strong seam? Did you weld them?

I have not welded anything. That is the one problem with the tank guard. It is all made out of 1 peice of metal, and it is just starting to tear where I have folded it. It isn't that major, as it has lasted me 2 gallons already, and will probably last atleast another 2. The folding was simple if you think about it before you start. You put one side of the fold in the vice, and bend the other one over using a flat piece of wood. The problem was after you have folded one side, it is hard to find a bit of the vice to bend the other side, as one fold gets in the way of the other (if you get what I say, it is hard to explain).

Hope that helps.
