Accel Pitts or OMP Boxer
I'm interested in a biplane to put my Saito 82 on. The two that interest me the most are the Accel Pitts and the OMP Boxer. I know there is a price difference and that one is an ARF while the other is a kit. My style of flying is extreme aerobatics with maybe some mild 3D thrown in...i.e. 3D capability is not really an issue while aerobatic ability is. Any suggestions on which of these two might be a better fit for me? I've read all the threads that I can find on both of these planes but I'm still pretty much equally divided on which one would be best.
Thanks,
Bob

Don't waste your money on the Pitts the Boxxer is the better of the two.

RE: Accel Pitts or OMP Boxer
Thanks for the response guys. Seems to be one in favor of the Pitts and one in favor of the Boxxer.
Any other opinions?
Is the Boxxer a relatively quick build?

The Boxxer should build fast, if you don't mind building 2 wings. I wasn't voting in favor of the Pitts or against the Boxxer. I am voting for the OMP Ultimate.

RE: Accel Pitts or OMP Boxer
The Boxxer is a much more performance oriented 3D flyer. The Pitts is a ton of fun to fly but it's more of a short coupled tumbler. Yeah it will hover and spin like mad and all the regular stuff but it can be a bear in KE and lacks precision response. The Boxxer is a much more neutral 3d machine that can do it all and track very well. The Ulimate looks great to and judging by Wessco's vids I've seen, it flies really well. If you're looking for a fun-flying tumbler you can just whip the sticks around on, get the Pitts (you can get them cheap on EBay). If you want a more precise 3D flyer go with the Boxxer or Ultimate.
PS - Some Pitts ARFs need a bit of strengthening in the fuse aft of the wing. It's not a hard fix but if you get one that's weak there, it will eventually crack the fuse.

Agreed with everyone else. If you can swing it check out the Ultimate first! That's my first choice. Second choice is definitely the Boxxer for me but I've only seen videos and read all the discussions on the Pitts. But yea after reading all of them I do not have a 3rd choice.

I love my ultimate from OMP also but if i read the original post right he has a Saito 82 looking for a home and I don't think it will be enough engine for the Ultimate. I am running a Saito 100 on mine and it seams to be a perfect match for this plane.

I appreciate the opinions everyone has offered. I'm still not certain which way to go. The OMP Ultimate is probably a great bipe but I don't think it will mate with my Saito 82 very well.
Does anyone know of any video of the Accel Pitts?

I don't think that .82 would do the Ultimate justice either....I was just placing my vote....Get the Accel Pitts and the Boxxer. Fly the Pitts while you build the Boxxer. The Pitts is a little weak from the manufacturer, not by design. Any questions should be posted and you'll get an answer quickly.

RE: Accel Pitts or OMP Boxer
I did beta work for Quinn (Accel Pitts Designer), and spoke with Jeremy (Boxxer Designer) early on in his Boxxer project.
First off, what BerwynBill says is 100% on the money. With the exception of the Chinn Yakk, I've never flown a profile that will tumble, flip, and spin like Quinn's Pitts. And I have flown a TON of profiles...
The Boxxer, I've flown only the Beta built by Jeremy himself, is a far more precise plane. Far, far, far more... It can be flown well beyond the stall (like the Pitts), but then hot dog it too. The Pitts suffers in KE, and during crisp maneuvers, like a point roll.
I have a Boxxer kit sitting about 1/2 built now. It is not at all difficult to build.
So, which do you want?
Quinn's Pitts- Flip it, flop it, tumble it, spin it, slow as a backwards walk, turns on a dime (with about 8 cents change), almost like a foamy light biplane. ARF
Boxxer- precise, rock and roll ready, smooth, fairly neutral (for a bipe especially), clean flying, KIT.
Let us know what you decide.
