I"m thinking about picking up a couple of these myself. Why are they so cheap though, is this a bad engine?

I do not know why they are so cheap, but they are without a doubt the BEST value for money engine on the planet.
Reliable, long lasting, powerful, easy to tune, holds a tune....what's not to love??

I know I saw that the other day. I was going to post something about it but got tied up with other things. If I had the money I would pick up two or three for myself. And just find thing to put them in. I'm sure I could come up with a few things that need a .18cvr in it.
No there not bad engine' at all. There actually great engine's. O.S makes some of the most reliable engine that are out there. They must have over stocked or must be having a sale. As far as I know O.S has not come out with a newer version so we can discount that idea. I dont know why there so cheap just be glad that they are.

Well, few years ago, they retailed for almost 50 more. Then there was a major price break that was advertised by Tower and other major distributors, and the price just about stayed there, even for the pull start engines. The quality hasn't changed, or has gotten better in some cases, so no need to question the prices, right?

I have one on my hpi rs4 nitro mt, which I'm selling (the whole truck, and will be on the market place this weekend.) Its a great engine, I've only ran about a half a gallon through it and it runs 40+ easy. Its actually my first nitro and I've decided it is to powerful for me, I don't mind going fast but this thing just has raw power. I put it next to my friends old .20 and it kept up in top end and pulled alittle in low end. Great engine, rotary carb has never had to be readjusted after getting it tuned. Would highly recommend this engine.

I have 3 of these engines in various cars... The are a drop in fit and are so reliable... starts on first pull just about every time. I have several gallons in my Cen MT2 and never have any issues.. I can't say enough about them... At $79 I may pick up more and keep them as spares... the only problem is they don't break.
