Default Associated starterbox! grr

Ive been using my roomies reedy box for about a year now, or pull on my rc10

i decided to grab my own box, i bought the AE starter box, pretty decent deal

but i opened it up and it uses 6-cells to power the 12vmotor? ***..i guess i over looked that

the connector is an old school tamiya, and it does include some cables to attach to say a 12 v car battery, which is what i want to do, or use a portable 6v

any ideas? this is pretty annoying..

i dont wanna splice wires unless i have to..i dont mind doing it for a connector, but not to the motor...

anyone? own one

Is [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCLZ9&P=0]THIS[/link] the box you're talking about? I don't have one, but my brother's friend does. It should have come with a Y-harness to wire two 7.2V car packs in series to get ~12V. If you don't have packs already, you should be able to get two 1500mah nicad packs for under $20 total, and they'll be plenty good for the starter box. That is how I power my airplane starter, and one charge lasts all weekend of flying for me. Also, if you don't want to use nicads, you should be able to get a 12V gell cell from the LHS or walmart for about the same price.
