Default engine hot in break in - Savage X

I am Newbie and my first car is a Savage X.
Yesterday, I start the truck the first time, for break in.
The manual says to use the first tank with the car with the wheels of the ground, and I make this.
After only five or six minutes the engine it started to be hot and to free smoke white.
I check with temperature sensor and he it was with almost 140 degrees celsios when the danger for the manual would be 120º celsius.
I try one second and thirst time and it was the same thing. With the temperature go for 155 º C. I checked the carburetor and it this with the stock regulation.
What I make?

Hi abrc,

Make the mixture richer or add more fuel. Turn the high side needle counter clockwise about 1/4 turn and check temp again.

Just wondering
What fuel are you using and What percent (%)
is the nitro content? To low a nitro content will
also cause higher temps.

Thanks for the replies. I use the Wildcat 20% nitro and 14% lub, because this and the byron is the only fuels I find in my country.

Cold R 5 HPI??

No. No. No.

Use a medium to hot plug like a O.S. #8.

Use only a cold plug if you use nitro content greater than 20%

If you will not use a different type of fuel then at least change your plug and richen the LSN and HSN needles.

I do not have the 4.1 but in the past all 1 1/2 years in my K4.6 I have run the R5 for well over 5 gallons. Fact be know I probably have a lot more through it but do not keep track. Now since I started racing about 5 months ago this may change when things cool off. But if this guy is having problems with temperatures with a cold plug going to a hotter one is not going to help at this point. I would check to see if the needles are at the correct factory setting on the carburetor first.

I had the exact same problem during my break in. My engine was getting up to around 280F during the first tank. The HSN made very little difference in temps during the first tank because it is to stay at idle for the first tank. However, when I adjusted the LSN 1/4 turn richer the temps almost immediately dropped to within good break in temps. Try leaving the HSN at factory and richen (turn counter-clockwise) the LSN just an 1/8-1/4 turn at a time. Hope that works for ya!

I think you will find most here use the heat cycle for break in not the idling method.

All the ones I have seen can be set to show either C or F.
