The after run oil debate has to be one of my favorites.
Some people have used WD-40 for the last 30 years and it works great.
Some people have never put anything in there motors after
running them and they have over 10 gallons through their
motors and they look like new inside. Some people will
mix up their own using mystery oil and ATF and an eye of a nute
and the smell of a fart. And after $20 they end up with a gallon
of oil that they'll never use in a life time. read the following
old post.

By the way, I put store bought after run oil in My savage
and my sons savage when We're done for the day.
I do this everytime we run them. I also like the fact that
ARO does not evaporate like WD-40 so the next time
I start the motor it already has some oil in it to lube
engine while I get it started.

If you read HPI's website it specifically says NOT to use WD-40. It mentions Mystery Oil and 3 in 1 oil as ok. I find this interesting because Traxxas and Losi both say it(WD-40) can be used as an ARO. I use MMO.

WD-40 is the absolute best thing to add to a motor with a internal OWB... Such as an SH or XTM engine.

WD-40 does not harm anything, and I have used it for years. What WD-40 does very well is it cleans the OWB and prevents slippage.... Afterrun will tend to make your OWB slip, WD-40 makes it act like new.....I generally dont ad anny ARO or WD-40 to my bumpstart engines, though If I store them i use Light sewing machine oil to lubricate the internals..

Anyways WD-40 is amazing to use when you have a intenral OWB

Like I said run what you want. I have the K4.6 that has the one way bearing in side the crankcase and have been using after run oil for well over 5 gallons and to date never had my one-way slip even once! I have had one go out on my OS .15 CV-RX after well over 6 gallons but in 6 years that is the first one way I have ever had a problem with and I have 6 engines with one way bearings. I have used after run oil in all of them.

the Axial/4.6 one way system is better then the Sh one... We never have issues with the 4.6 or Axial mills.... But the dam SH OWB's can slip alot if you use ARO... As well different fuels will cause slippage as well, it seems any fuel with high castor content will cause slip..

With WD-40 I have never had issues and I have no problems running 10 gallons thru a motor.... And if you take the time to watch my videos you'll see the level of performance my engines run at...

One of the biggest problems with using WD 40 is the fact that it has cleaning agents in it that attract dust and water, so you may as well not put anything in at all, it will do about the same. If you are running it everyday then you should be fine but if you are going to store it you are asking for trouble.

i`ll stick with after run oil.
like 46u said its cheap enough.
i use wd 40 in my lawn engine and weed eater when i put
them away for the season. but for these little high revving engines.
i`ll stick with after run.
i just pulled apart my savage engine after 4 gallons.
and its looks nice clean in there using after run.
