Pelican 1600 - Perfect Fit!!!
I just recently purchased the Pelican 1600 case and it is a perfect fit for the DF. I could tell you all about it, but I'll just let the pics to the talking.

That looks perfect! I've never played with those kinds of cases--or their foam inserts--before. How did you go about customizing the foam?

Looks good Koop. You shouldn't have to worry about damage while transporting in those. I use Pelican 1650's for all of my video gear.
madean, Koop may have a good source too but B&H has a great selection and good prices too.

Hindmost, they have an option of one piece foam that you could cut with a knife and then they have pick & pluck foam. I ordered pick & pluck to customize my cases. It is perforated foam in small 6"vertical deep squares that you can easily pull apart.

Just type in Pelican in their search for all Pelican options.

Madean,
I purchased the case off of eBay for $118.00 which is a great deal for this kind of high quality case. As for the canopies I have some on order and I will hopefully have them available mid April sometime. I'm going out of town for two weeks, but I promise to let everyone know before I post them on eBay.
TheHindmost,
Customizing the case is relatively simple. It has a material called Pick 'N' Pluck foam. The key is measuring twice and plucking once. If you decide to purchase a Pelican case let me know and I'll help you out as much as possible. I've messed up previous cases in the past, but I have learned from my mistakes.

Thanks for the info guys. I just about ordered the DFI case the other night, am glad I didn't. I dont' think it would hold the radio too. That 1600 case runs $124 from B & H, thanks for the link Sky, so i will probably order it. Sucks you have to take the rotors off, but not a major deal, might make a spot in the case for a small power screwdriver!

Thanks, Koop, I appreciate it!
About removing the rotors...I spoke recently with someone at DFI about rotors in general and one thing he mentioned was that it was possible to make poor man's folding rotors by cutting standard rotors in half, essentially. Centrifugal force keeps the rotors positioned correctly in flight. But, since I don't even have a case for the DF yet, I haven't tried it. Anyone else?
