Because not everyone has $500 to pull out there ass. Yea, thats a great upgrade though, the only thing u need is the conversion for like $30. So about $150 for the whole thing.

Or you could put this OS engine in.
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGGP8&P=7
It's an easy swap for the Pro.15, lots more power but shouldn't rip up the drive train and only $110.
You might be able to get a 3.3 in for $150 but I doubt it. Also,in all likelyhood, you'll be redoing much of the drivetrain too. which will put you easilly into the $200 - $300 range when all is said and done.
Also the ez-start for the .15 will not fit the 3.3 so you'll need to either get the correct ez-start or get a PS. The OS comes with a pull start.
Really, selling the existing truck and combining that money with what you'ld spend to upgrade it will get you close to a brand new truck which, I agree, would be the best all around option.

I wouldn't bother upping a pro .15 to a 3.3. You'll break drivetrain parts left and right and just be frustrated. if you wanna upgrade and stay with TRX parts, drop in a 2.5. You'll need the conversion kit and a whole new EZ Start system. My friend Cliff thought he got a deal when he bought an old pro .15 maxx at a garage sale and ended up puttting over 500 bucks into it, including the 3.3 and now the truck sits in his Tattoo shop because he's broken every driveline part from the spur gear to the driveshafts numerous times. The 3.3 twists driveshafts like licorice twists. just my .02
