Don't know exactly where lake ann is in Va. but I've heard they've been running the r/c boats there for years...why not a floatplane?
As far as Maryland goes I think a club in columbia has a site, might find them under clubs in the r/c web directory. Where are you located shv2sail?

A search showed me that Lake Anne is in Reston, VA.
Reston is West of Washington D.C.
As DC is 2 hours away, its a little far for me; thanks for the info though...

Bud-
I'm about 10 miles south of Baltimore, actually not far from Columbia. There is a local club here that used to (before last summer) host a float-fly at a lake in Columbia, but it has been indefinately cancelled due to insurance issues (if I remember correctly).

shv2sail,
I belong to the Westminster aero modellers in Westminster Md. and we have an 8 acre pond for float flying and two sites for regular flying, one of which is for large scale planes. That site is located off rt 31 between New Windsor and Westminster. Our club meetings are on the first tuesday of each month at the Westminster VFW at 7:30 if your interested. Don't know how far you'd have to travel but we have members that live very close to Baltimore. BTW our flea market is on Feb 8th at the VFW

The AMA Website lists 53 clubs in VA. There are contacts listed for each club. I didn't even look at the hobby shop directory. There has GOT to be somebody in your area who knows where the float-flyers fly. Otherwise take your rowboat out in the James River and have at it.

Bud-
I was actually checking out the WAM website yesterday, though it looks like it might be a bit of a hike to the flying sites to join you folks as a regular member. Do you host any open float flys?Where is the pond located (didn't see it on the website)?
Many thanks, and I'll probably see you at the flea market - it was already on my calendar!
Thanks-
Steve

Steve, Not that many members fly floats and I don't think our club has ever hosted a float fly. It's a private pond for member flying. Talk to me at the flea market.
