Teflon Burning Through
Hi,
I have the 26 (1.60 Petrol) and the header and pipe - I have burned through two couplers in perhaps 25 runs... How long should they last?
Thank you, Dan

RE: Teflon Burning Through
I've burned through silicone ones, at just about the timeframe you are talking about. Once switched over to true teflon, no problems. Glad someone else noticed too, I hadn't seen or heard of the problem until it happened to me.

the header and the pipe should be aprox 1/16"-1/18" apart and straight in line - see picture - done this way I have never been able to burn out Teflon or Silicone -I use silicone almost exclusively now -just make sure all is aligned and supported

RE: Teflon Burning Through
Thanks guys - I burned through the coupler that came with the MVVS26 pipe and header from MVVS so I assumed it was teflon (it was off-white), then I burned through a silicone one (grey color)...
Dick has it right - my pipe is not on a straight line with the header pipe - about 15 or 20 degree angle - so I hope this is the issue - I have some "real" teflon coming from DA, but Dick says Silicone will put up with the heat from the 26 if all is in-line and minimal gaps exist - I will realign and try again.
Thank you
