EMAXX Battery Charging Questions
I am just getting back into the hobby with a new EMAXX. Am I charging my batteries correctly . Im charging 7cell IB4200 nimh BoomBoom batteries with a MRC duel Super Brain 977 charger .. The charger Manuel states peak threshold value setting of 5mv per cell and a charge rate setting of capacity times 2 or a charge rate for new batteries of capacity divided by 2 .
So I had the settings at 35mv and 2amps. (ie..7cell x 5 = 35mv and 4200mah divided by 2 = 2.1 amps )
In about 40mins. The charger beeped indicating fast charge had ended , I understand it would have continued to slow charge for another hour but I hope that's not nessesary. The final readings where.. Battery A= 1495mah 9.78v Battery B= 1267mah 9.79v ..
Am I setting up and charging the batteries correctly , Are these good final readings .. The kid at the hobby store told me that if I charge my batteries as fast as I can on the highest setting then my car would go faster and the charge would not last as long ... If I charge them at a slower rate the car would not go as fast but the batteries would have a longer run time ... Is any of that true ... Thanks Pros

RE: EMAXX Battery Charging Questions
Sorry, cannot help with your settings questions.
I do believe there is some truth to the thing about fast and slow charges but I'm not sure if the difference is really enough for the inexperenced to tell. I don't think I ever noticed that much difference. I do know that a fast chaarge is harder on the battery than a slow charge.
Personally, I usually charge all my batteries at a rate where they will fully charge in about 1 hour's time unless I feel like the batteries are getting too warm at that rate. Then I'll adjust the rate down some.
You'll actually probably get better answers to this kind of question in the batteries and chargers section of the board.
