Default rebuild?

I just wanted some advice if this engine should be rebuilt now or in another couple of gallons. I got the truck used and have run 2 and1/4 gallons through it. It still seems to run well but since it was used when I got it I don't know what it should be like.
It is a 2.5r on a tmaxx. It never pulled wheelies off the line but ocasionally will when running. I have had good luck tuning and tried to keep the temps below 280. It never ran good below 230 and I can tell if it gets to 300 pretty easily. After run oil always used.
Here is a pic. (hopfully)
Thanks, Scott

If it's running good, run it! When it becomes a nightmare to keep tuned, and just quits running for no obvious reason, when hot...and EVERYTHING else is good and proper....start thinking rebuild or replace. Till then, have fun.

Just run it till it dies.
Then you have three choices,
1. Send it in to traxxas and get a new engine 1/2 price.
2. Get a new piston and sleeve to rebuild it.
3. Just get a new engine.(I like the O.S. 18)

I got a os 18tm and my engine only has a 1/2 gallon threw it. I won't run the os til the traxxas engine dies though.

Final cut, you can send in a used, crapped up engine, and get a totally new one for $75?!?!?! Could I trade in my 2.5 and get a 3.3 for 1/2 price?

Thanks I'll stick with this one for now then. May look at the OS18 as a replacment, is it a drop in? Traxxas is $125 for a trade on a new one I have seen piston and sleve sell for $40 on ebay which is the way I would go, I assume, unless I find a good deal on a new OS. How does the 3.3 compare to the 2.5r and the OS?

All the details are here. Click on the "How Does It Work" link at the bottom of the page.
Then scroll down to where it says prices.
