I need help deciding between the two. They're both electric kits. I have to decide as soon as possible. I had planed on getting the HPI, but then I just couldn't pick between the two. Thanks for any help.

Ive had nothing but great experiences with HPI, plus there are alot of extra parts at your LHS if something breaks. I don't know anything about associated though.

Now I really can't decide... At tower hobbies under REQUIRES: It says Reedy Modified Motor (recommended) and Reedy 6 cell sub C for the TC3. Do I have to get that battery and motor? cuz there like $50 each and I already have batteries. I'm so confused I really need you guys to help me pick.

get the TC3 IF and ONLY IF there is only a choice between the sport 2 or tc3.
simple fact:the sport2 has been discontinued and there would be PLENTY of problems getting spare parts even if u live beside the HPI factory.
ppl are deciding on whether to take the pro 3 over TC3..
but try to look around more.there isnt just 2 models out there...

Anyone that wants to can give suggestions. I just want it to be an electric, on road kit that is about $160.00 or less just for the kit. I didn't hear anything about the Sport 2 being discontinued.

Both cars are highly tunable. Both are fairly durable. Both are competent racers.
Personally, I like the drivetrain of the associated better. The sport 2 uses belt drive and the associated is shaft drive. I've had (and still have) many touring cars (nitro and electric), some belt and some shaft drive. Shaft drive is less prone to problems while running. The shaft will not skip. The shaft will not jam because of a small pebble.
HPI makes great kits, and so does associated. Check out your local hobby shop and see which kit they carry parts for. Even if you don't buy your kit there, you'll be knocking on their door for parts.

In case you weren't kidding with the motor and batteries question, here goes.
If you already have a 6 cell stick pack (or saddle pack for that matter), you don't need to buy batteries. Both can accept stick packs.
You can use "any" 540 motor designed for r/c with them. I would recommend a good stock motor (do a search on this site to get lots of info on motor choices (pros / cons, run time, gearing, etc)
Good luck
