OS 18 TM Vs RB TM523
Please somebody help me with this decision. What engine should i buy the popular yet smaller engine (18TM) or the big orange machine. by the way i have a 2.5R on my revo which i want to pass it to a smaller touring shaft (4WD) driven car powered by a factory 2.5 engine that i thing its a crap (i buy it when i was a real newbie is the hobby, its the megatech razor xt race editon or something). But the main doubt its which engine its better for my Revo the blue one or the orange.

RE: OS 18 TM Vs RB TM523
Go OS all the way. The Rb has tons of power, but the customer service is the worst. I have two buddies that have had problems with their tm323 motors and RB wouldnt do a thing to help them. One of the motors was obviouslym was a casting problem as the mounting ear broke off right on the parting line. The OS has lots of power, way better than the 2.5, and way more reliable.

There is not much difference between the 2 in power or speed. The RB has an edge in the power department and with the same gearing they top out at almost the same speed so no difference there. The OS holds a tune 10x better then the RB and the less trouble the better in my book. They are both good engines but, I would go with the OS if I had to replace it. I have yet to get my hands on a Picco .26 Maxx but, I have red great things about it and I have seen it run. It would have to be the top dog of the "drop-in's".

I have them both and just as I said above. The RB has an edge on the bottom end but, the OS has great mid and top. The biggest thing to consider is how well it holds a tune and hands down the OS wins. If your friends OS is not even close to the RB he had better check his tune.

How does it stack up to the Sirio .23? I have one and totally blows away TM's...not even close. I beat pretty much anything that I race with the latest being a 2-speed buggy with a Axium .32 which was pretty fast, but I past him and was still pulling away as we crossed the line. I want it faster. I have a Picco .28 in a buggy that I heard would run great in the Revo. I have the New Era engine mount also. I want it crazy fast. I am running a 36/15 gearing now. Would hate to make my tranny spaghetti, but I have a need for speed. How fast can a Revo be made to go?

RE: OS 18 TM Vs RB TM523
Thanks for all the opinions i´ve make my mind and i´ll go to the RB cause i kind of didn't find any OS (lol) But it wont be soon cause while the Little and powerless blue original engine was working i kind of blew the whole thing to pieces my fault tough cause i didn't notice that was a Semi Truck passing by , so as i turn quickly to avoid the truck i just smash the Revo against a wall at full throttle...the chassis bent, the engine kind of jump of, the back wheels were...somewhere in the range of 10m, the suspension arms broke, the suspensions them self where ok(the front ones at least the back ones were completely ruined), front rims completely smashed, the back one (just found one ) was ok (i knew i should had glued ALL the rims to the tires) but the rest was kind of smashed like the fuel tank broken in 2 lucky didn't started a fire with all the nitro spread in the ground, and there i was completely frozen looking to my destroyed Revo at distance, and thinking of an excuse to tell my dad how i left home with the car and just came back with the radio and some pieces.

I think what a lot of guys are missing here is that a larger displacement engine will
pull taller gears. As geared stock the OS and RB powerplants may be close to the
same in top speed. The RB can pull larger tooth clutch bells/smaller spur gears
which equates to higher top speeds even though the OS engine will turn more rpm's.
If you are not smelling nitro fumes and listening to the sweet song your not LIVING !!
