Default What kind of primer to use...

Hello,

I am now done with the glassing process on my 1.20 size plane, and ready to lay down some coats of primer. I'm not sure which brand/kind of primer to use...poly, water base, acrylic...etc.

Spray, or brush on?

I can really use the help - Thanks in advance.

Ryan

Before giving you advise I would sure like to know a few things.
1.What parts of the plane are you painting ?
the whole aircraft or just cowl , wheel pants and such.
2. what colors are you going to use?
There can be a world of difference in the final finish with the type and color of primer used.
3.Are you going to be putting primer over wood, cloth. fiber glass, plastic or plastic finish.
Like to help you just let us know what your trying to achieve.

Regular spray automotive primer will prime fiber-glass
just fine....Auto Zone sells a good primer/filler for
about $3.59/can....and it works good.

Default primer...

This will be for the entire plane which was glassed with ZPoxy.

The Cowl is fiberglass with white gelcoated.

Color will be Sky, and Grey with flat final finish.

Please make any suggestion as far as what kind of paint to use , as well as what kind of putty also.

Thanks

You are really going to use Sky and Gray ? Is this a stealth type plane you wish not to see very well at any distance?
I would use automotive white primer this will give you a lite finish. For filler I still like Model Magic.
I live in Vegas to check the colors out at Pep Boys in the auto motive paint section they may have what you want color wise
