Default Prop Selection

OK next question, feedback on prop selection.

I hear that CF props are quieter than wood, Is this correct?

What size prop are we using on a QQ 102" Yak and a DA 100 on cans?

Thanks

Generally speacking CF is quieter than wood. 28X10 would be a good size.

I got to fly that set up some last year. The 27x10 works good for 3D, but the 28x10 works better for sequence flying. I plan on using the 28x10 PT Models prop on mine this year. Tom

i have used several props on my QQ 102 with a DA100 and stock DA mufflers. i like the xoir 27-10 best over all. for all around flying i like there 26-12 but landing on our 300' run way it caries a little to much speed and the 27-10 slows down more. the mezlic(spl) 28-10 also is a great option.

CF props are twice as noisy as wood,,,and you have a prop strike with CF be ready to send the motor back see if you twisted the crank or not,,

Not when I compare the same size props, let's say NX (wood) and Mejzlik 27x10 on a DA-100. Mejzlik is a lot quieter. You're right that you are more likely to twist the crank with a higher strength prop if you have a prop strike.

I have a QQ 102", DA-100 with cans. I started out using the PT 27x10. VERY quiet prop but spool up wasn't fast enough. Downline breaking on this prop was great too. I recently switched over to a Vess 27A. Unbelievable difference in thrust, throttle response (extremely fast spool up) with about the same downline breaking. I am going to stick with the Vess even though its a little louder.

NX is the same as Xoar...same factory, same prop, different label. Menz-S is quieter, Mejzlik is quieter still....all at 27x10.

I have recenty purchased a sig kadet senior. I am new to the sport and have never flown a plane! I have paired this plane with an OS .46AX motor. What would be a good prop choice??
