Finishing plywood fuse.
I've constructed a sailplane using 1/64 plywood rolled to a teardrop for the fuse. Nose and wing filettes are balsa and some light wallboard filler (spackle). I tried covering it but I'm not happy with the job. The compound curves compounded my lack of experience with monokote and well - I'm tearing it all off.
Does any one have product suggestions or proceedures for sealing and painting that would produce a smooth hard finish that will resist pulling off? I use boxtape to hold the wings up against the fillets and the monokote pulled off. It's a fairly light 2Meter glider. I'm not overly concerned with weight but don't want to add 4 oz of paint to it either.

Greg, I've been using z-poxy finishing resin with 3/4 oz
cloth for many years with excellent results . It's light,
strong and can be painted. I fly mostly powered stuff
but several of my gliders have been glassed and it's
worked out great
