Falcon 3D parts question
Hi. I'm very tempted to buy this heli. I haven't bough it yet because i'm not finding many replacement parts in europe. Does anyone know what other heli parts are compatible with these?

RE: Falcon 3D parts question
Some parts from the Shogun and T-Rex fit. I am running with Align 315 main blades and 62mm CF tail blades made for the t-rex. The Shogun shaft driven tail assembly will work according to postings on the huge falcon-3d thread in the beginners forum. I have not had problems ordering parts from HL yet (tail fin, main shaft) for the Falcon so I have not looked too far for other brand parts. I am thinking about trying a all metal head from a Walkera #36 (much less expensive than the Falcon-3d Aluminum upgrade parts).

RE: Falcon 3D parts question
thanks, steve. let me know how that goes because i can get walkera parts easily. I think i can get my hands on a Walkera DF60 and check for parts compatibility very soon. i'll post about my findings if you want. BTW i already ordered the falcon. hopefully it will get here next week.

RE: Falcon 3D parts question
My Walkera 36 head is in the mail. I will let you know how the install goes and how well it flies. My stock plastic Falcon-3d head has just kind of worn out, the linkages are all very, very loose and there is just not much that can be done to fix them since most of the weak points are just wire-on-plastic. You will like the Falcon, it is still a great deal. Mine has a ton of flights on it with very little repair work. Just watch the blade pitch settings to ensure you don't over-heat your motor and/or ESC.

RE: Falcon 3D parts question
thanks, steve, lemme know how that works out. Haven't received my falcon yet, though. It was only shippped a couple of weeks ago and its still on route from france. Hope its somewhere around spain by now . I may get back to you on those pitch settings, but from what i couls figure out so far, i should always try to favour rotor speed over blade pitch to increase stability and maximize response. Is that about right?

RE: Falcon 3D parts question
The Walkera 36 CNC head I picked up off e-bay worked OK. I had to cut about 1/8" off the top of the Falcon shaft and I had to move the ball on the cyclic control servo to the end of the horn to get more throw. It tracks great and seems to give good control (at least enough to hover well). I hope to get outside with the Falcon later today, but it's too windy now. For $40.00 shipped, it looks like a well made component. I'll update my post when I get more than a garage flight in.
Yes, until you are flying in idle-up mode, you should keep the rotor speed up by reducing the setting on the pitch zero point (left knob). Just feel the motor after flying and if it is too hot to touch comfortably, reduce the pitch. If you have an IR thermometer, try to keep the motor under 160F.
