crystals
I am all new at this. I just retired and this seems like a great hobby( electric airplanes) I let the hobby shop talk me into buying a typhoon 3-d for my 1st plane (not a good choice) but after a few crashes and repairs I do ok now. I just bought a jr 6102 rdio from a guy on here and it is on crystal 27. the typhoon is on 17. can i just buy a channel 27 crystal for the typhoon rec. to make my new radio work. any tip will be great.

RE: crystals
When you buy a receiver you must select the channel that matches your transmitter. So, basiclly, yes you can just buy a new crystal for the receiver. Howvever, you must buy the right one. LHS will sell you what they have and it may not be what you need. There are Single conversion and Dual conversion crystals along with short and long crystals. You need to know which is needed for the model receiver you have.
Hope this helps.

Also make sure the TX and the RX are compatable. Their are two different "shifts" JR and Airtronics are compatable and Hitech and Futaba are the same. Some modern RX also are splitt shift and will go both ways but not all. Might take them to the LHS and if they are knowledgeable enough they will be able to help you out.
Good Luck
