Default Opinion on HD motor behavior...

Please post your opinion on the following after viewing the video. Pay close attention to the DF shadow and the behavior of the blades/HD motors:

http://www.nextnethosting.net/DF/Video/Blades.wmv

1. Not trimmed correctly
2. This is the way the video sees the blades normally
3. HD motors not acting properly
4. Pilot is a total looser!

I edited out the ending of the video where it had power loss and dropped. Please post your reply on the thread. NOTE: I had the camera tilted on purpose and the video quality is just for fast viewing.

I have ordered new and different batteries suggested by lacycopter, I have had it in to DFI for the power loss and they replaced a board. This video is after the board replacement and before changing batteries.

2. The video was freaky at first take, I think the video frequency is matching the blade timing, from the video (shadows) I wouldn't expect the DF to fly at all if the blades were spinning that slow... you can see the left motor getting more power than the front and right motor causing it to be out of sync with your video so you see it spinning.

SAVS, in case you didn't notice the camera is a little crooked. Fesfly almost had it right. The rotor RPMs are actually out of sync with the camera's frame rate as they pulse while constantly adjusting for flight. It is just like shooting a computer monitor or TV screen where you see the horizontal roll from the differing frame rates.

Ok' I did know that the camera was tilted "NOTE: I had the camera tilted on purpose and the video quality is just for fast viewing". I like the way the video shows the motor rotation but I was just a bit concerned with the sudden power losses. I got in (3) batteries worth of flight yesterday and only had one power loss so I labeled the battery that I was using during the loss. The loss was at 25' high and at a distance of only about 400' away. If the DF looses TX signal what does it do? Hover, dive, return on a GPS location? Just kidding on the last one but hey if a lousy camera mount can make such a fuss imagines what auto-GPS could do.

I am thinking maybe it's the battery, but I had some good DF fun!

Ok' now I have egg on my face. I did some great flying today and got some great shots of a new rugby field we just built and guess what...yep the camera was tilted and so is all the video. I wonder how I can straighten that one out? Especially the part where I hit an aerial cable and spun violently into a tree and bounced from branch to branch to about 15' from the ground where a small branch wrapped around a rotor blade.

My bad!

SAVS, you absolutely crack me up! You are not making sense now. You said that you knew the camera was tilted and now you are surprised that the video content is crooked. LMAO! That's easy to fix with editing software that has a tilt or spin filter to correct for that. But you would have to also do a small push or zoom to hide the corners that would be visible. Unfortunately, that means the image is blown up so it is softer. So, it makes an already not so great image even more not so great.

Now don't get me confused, the first one I knew was crooked but did not care, today I straightened it up (prior to flight) and was doing fine until a slight bump on the rising ground and the rest of my video was crooked! Now I have a line from the lens through the foam to the bubble housing. All it takes is a glance to tell if it is straight or not.

Hey' I can almost hover now so take it easy on the semi-newbie or I might cry

Well I went through my entire arsenal of software and could not find one that "tilts or spins". Got any suggestions where I can find one? I did some testing on my video processing in the mean time and it is not too bad except for the crick you get in your neck after watching it [:@]

FYI: Got some video of a Rugby field we built. Yea' the camera turned on a hard landing (I edited THEM out) and I did not notice it. The best part is the end! I used a different video procedure that I am not sure I like yet. It needs some tweaking. InterVideo Capture, Roxio VideoWave 8, Flash Pro 8, NO de-shaking.

UPDATE!!! I found a filter in VirtualDub...Denny

Well here is the adjusted (tilted) version using VirtualDub. Kind of weird looking but I will just call it "artistic".
