noob. many questions
ok.
in short, I don;t know squat.
a friend picked up a savage X little while back. not the brightest bulb, nor what I woudl guess to be the most suited to the hobby.
H ended up messing will all of the carb needles, without ryme nor reason..
I attempted to reset factory for hem (flush)
I had to back the Idle pin off, nearly 2 full turns.
now here is where the problems come in
It seems to idle well,
seems to run rich, (as I was tought it should)
but if at anny point he touches the breaks, IT KILLS IT dead, instantly.
pinching the fuel line, does not result in higher revs befor shutting down.
and it never does realy seem to warm up (it is quite cold out roughly freezing)
I was also wondering the difference between making modificatios to the "high" and "low" as opposed to setting the "throttle trim"
I can see the carb opends up 100% .. maybe even further, but when breaks are aplied, dead instantly. while running there is no break dragg. any sugestion.
make sure the sugestions come from facotry, as I suspect next time I see him, it will need to be factoried and retuned.
I have also read different articles as to break in. regardless it looks like he is running the 3-5 tanks (puttering around the parking lot at 1/2 throttle.

RE: noob. many questions
well, adjustement of the Idle screw seems to have helped.
still seems like the servo is pushing against the carb, but the screw stopps it. I do not know if this is right, but it works.
as for the trim aspect. now it makes sense also.

if you havent fixed the problem yet maybe this will help. if your engine idle speed is set with your trim and the idle speed screw is adjusted too low, when you apply the brake the servo also returns the throtle to the idle position that the screw is adjusted to and if that is too low the engine dies.
i only use the trim in case i need to have the engine idle a little faster and dont have someone to hold the trigger while i adjust the carb. after the carb is adjusted i return the trim to its normal position
