Default 1/8 bud steering trouble

I took out the old jr 270 steering servos and replaced them with one jr z650 m at 123oz of torque at 4.5 volts 142 at 6 volts ,and i'm still having steering trouble. Does anyone no how much torque it takes to turn a 1/8 miss bud ?

Anything over 100 inch ounces will do the job. What kind of trouble are you having?

It sounds to me like you went from a pull-pull set-up to a push pull set-up. If the rod is to small in diameter, it may be flexing at hi pressure loads and not turning the boat. either use a thicker rod to steer it or if you can set up a differant configuration of pull-pull steering using the single servo.

The steering trouble i'm having is the boat doesn't want to turn at higher speeds it should make right turns on a dime . The guy from Twisted Liquid said if you hold the rudder and turn the controller the servo should be strong enough to move the boat but it doesn't and the push rod isn't flexing . Help!!!!!!!!

Check if you have a BEC receiver, if you do you need a Y connector to hook the battery power to both the servo and receiver. Are you sure the batteries are good? What kind and how many batteries are you using?

It's stupid of me to ask but have you checked for binding anywhere? Can you move the rudder easly with the power off?

Sounds like a radio/battery problem to me. If you're not getting any binding and the problem is only at higher speeds, you might try a bigger battery pack and see what happens. How old is the battery pack you are using?

Dont get me wrong here im not having a go but if you guys are getting these boats to turn on dimes your doing real well there design is that of a skater thats why they have a large turn fin on the predominant side of turning IE: right if the boat is mostly turning right

here in australia our track layout is full oval on a right hand turn 100 metre lengh and we need every bit of about 15 metre turning area

Personaly i would make sure your rudder is capable of pushing this boat around make sure your turn fin is adiquate and as one of the other guys mentioned look for any binding in control rods or lines if so free em up and use a good quality grease like bel ray water proof high temp grease

Cheers ian

Check out my rudder and turn fin set-up. The boat handles like it's on rails. . . . . no issues with cornering and a added plus is the huge rooster it kicks up with the modded turn-fin when making turns.

Putting 6v to the receiver does not mean 6v out to the servo. As Mike mentioned you need to put a Y-lead in to make sure the servo is seeing 6v.

Sorry it's so big I can't get a thumbnail to work [:@]

Do you have a picture of your setup?
