Try to put the fuel tank at the balance point and it won't be a factor.

that might be tough since the engine is usally at or real close to that point.

heres a link to a post on how to balance your boat. BTW It says to do it with an empty tank.

RE: How to balance boat?
I am putting my twin tanks at the balance point, I have read to do it withe the tank empty ?? but if your tank is forward of the balance point , when you fill it the boat will be front heavy, and it will only be balanced when the tank is empty I thought the idea of balance was to help control ??and there doesn`t seem much point of having good control when the engine has stopped because you are out of fuel and stuck in the middle of the pond[sm=confused.gif]
Can someone explain ? but try not to be too technical

RE: How to balance boat?
thats why i suggested half a tank so the balance stays roughly the same wether full or almost empty .two tanks one either sid avoids the balance problem also if you got the room.

Maybe the tank empty thing has to do with wot and blowing over. When the tank is full you can go wot and the boat will just run wet, as the tank empties speed increases and when the tank is near empty and the boat is moving its fastest you don't have to back off and worry about blowing over. Hold it wot from beginning to end. Just a guess!

RE: How to balance boat?
If you are using two tanks outside the stringers at the balance point, no fuel is needed for balancing. All the articles I have read also says no fuel for balancing even if the tank is forward. the balance specs usually are within a "range" and not specific. (30% - 33%), so if you set it up closer to the lower end of the range, a full tank would have less effect. Remeber to put the flotation in as you balance.

wot = wide open throttle.
Remember its just a guess. I think that it would be easier to go full out from beginning to end than govern your speed as the balance point shifts.
