Easy tech question I think...
Well I am new to the RC world. I still don't know this thing very well. I had it out today and seem to have broke it. My guess is Transmission or clutch. This is a Savage X.
Symptom...
Truck is running but won't move. Transmission is not engaging. The gear on the back of engine is moving but large plastic gear not moving.
What shall I do or check?
Thanks!
Schwinn

So the clutchbell (gear on the engine crankshaft) is spinning, but the spur gear (gear that is on the transmission that is spun by the clutchbell) is not? If the clutchbell is also not spinning, the person that assembled your truck might have put the clutch shoes on backwards. Refer to your manual on how to remove the engine and clutchbell, and see if the clutch shoes are on backwards.

Yes...the spur gear teeth are gone. Not all the way but significatly worn it appears. Is that normal wear and tear or is there something that would cause that? Is there better spur gears? ie...metal?

Most likly what happened what your clutch bell heated up do to your clutch shoes slipping and it melted the spur gear. When you remove the spur check you clutch shoses if they are plastic I would replace them with a set of good aluminum ones. Nova makes some really nice ones and I think mugen does too.
