Great Planes Super Skybolt ARF
Hello,
Would it be a good match if I use a Saito .82 for the Great Planes Super Skybolt ARF??
Thanks for your help.

RE: Great Planes Super Skybolt ARF
I have the kit, so I can give an informed opinion. The kit I have uses a Magnum 120 for power. It is very powerful with nearly unlimited vertical. Now with that said, the ARF builds about two pounds lighter than the kit. The Saito 82s I have (2 of them) will swing just as much as my Magnum 91 I have on another plane. So will the 82 fly it? Yes. Will it be enough? Maybe. The only problem i can see is that you may end up adding lead to the nose to get it to balance properly.

RE: Great Planes Super Skybolt ARF
There are several threads on here that are about the Skybolt and in four stroke engines it seems everyone is using anything from a 91 to a 125. I just received my Skybolt today and I'm going to use a YS-110, should be more power that necessary. I hate it when I have to pull off a manuver I'm attempting because I ran out of power. Watch out for someone telling you a certain motor will fly the airplane very scale like. That means it's underpowerd and will chug around the sky. Good luck, I'm excited about mine.

RE: Great Planes Super Skybolt ARF
I traded my Kyosho Nexus Heli for a GPSS with a Magnum 70 on it, and it flew fine, but the engine ran terrible. I've got a Saito 80 on it now, and I will be test flying it later today if all goes well. The 80 should yank it around pretty good. The manual say CG is 4 5/8" back from the LE of top wing. According to those specs, this sucker is tail heavy, but it flew great, and lands itself. It sure is a good looking plane, and I love the size.
