RE: US Engines Spring Starter
Thanks, I checked out B&B must have looked over it.
I think I got it fixed.
Found a socket the right OD for the ID of the spring, a little vise, Map gas tourch, and some vise grips, got it back in shape.
Thought the One way bearings were bad (wouldn't catch). Grease was dirty and thick. Thru a dab of gas in the bearings, locked right on.
Clean it and throw some grease in it should be good to go.
I don't know if it was my fault or what. With the prop almost Harzonal I would grab the right one and come all the way back around to make a full turn, seems I just need to go half a turn. The brand new spring went bad after about 30 turns on a brand new engine.
Just for kicks I will also say I have a G62 with a band new spring starter on it and after 8 trys I can now hear what sounds like the spring rubbing the fire wall when I go to wind it back. I havent taken the engine off yet but i think it's the same thing.
Point is can anyone enlighten me on how much of a turn you should give these things?
Thanks
