Engine for a Sea Fury
I've been looking all over for information on what to put in my new Sea Fury for a gas engine. The LHS is telling me a 26 Evo would be a good choice for this aircraft or a 180 Saito. From what I've been reading, I want the 180 Saito power, but the 26cc Evo engine isn't that kind of power. I'm thinking I need a 30cc MVVS? I'm pretty confused on this issue. I really like the idea of going gas, I've seen what the aircraft is like with a Saito 180, but I don't want the mess or the fuel consumption. Would the 30cc MVVS be on par with the Saito for this aircraft.
Average flying weight I've been hearing from othes is 16 lbs. A pound+ of that is dead weight. Nose weight is a given. (another plus for gas)
Wing load load is 25.1 oz/sq ft
Area is 1190 sq. in.
71" span
62" length
All the other threads have a lot of information, but they're talking 3-D flying. I'm talking sport flying a September Fury Racer that wont be raced, but I do want performance if the mood strikes.
Am I on the right track here?
Thanks in advance for the input.

Well, due to the over abundance of information given, I decided to go with a Brillelli 36cc. I'll just jump in with both feet and sink or swim.

Good luck trying to go FAST with a 36cc gasser....
Speed requires POWER and pitch...
If you're close to Wichita you could check out the LHS, they have people who know FAST...

Although it's based on a race fury, I'm not looking for all out speed. I just want a good gas engine that will haul a 16 lb plane around with a little pep and not feel like I'm flying a Cub.

Benchmark prop 20x8 at 6800 is about 50 mph..
Speed formula....rpm x pitch x .00095 - about 3% for drag...
don't know where the formula came from, it is pretty close....

Here ya go.
http://www.kmp.ca/product_info.php?c...56c457292e288f
Note: The weight given at the website is just the bare aircraft without engine or radio. All the threads I've read about it here and RCgroups has it coming in at 15-16 ish pounds finished.
Here's a video of one I found.

RE: Engine for a Sea Fury
As far as I saw this Sea Fury from CMP flying in Bangkok, normally it requires Four stroke 1.20 - 1.40 power. Some of my friends used G26 Gas and MVVS 35CC. G26 is enough to fly like scale airplane.

RE: Engine for a Sea Fury
How much of the cylinder on the MVVS 35CC stuck out of the cowl? Was it mounted inverted? Did they use the scale spinner or the recommended spinner?

Mounted it invert with Evolution pitt muffer and use aluminum spinner 3" I think. Do not have information of cylinder distance fromt he cowl but could use below diagram for measure it.
