Default Hangar 9 servo arm with JR 8611A

Just picked up the Hangar 9 HD servo arms for JR servos and they don't seem to want fit on the 8611's. The splines seem to line up but the pressure needed to push it down would seem excessive and I don't want to damge the servo's splines. I can't do it by squeezing it by hand. Just wondering if these are the correct arms for an 8611. They're just as hard on 3421's that I have. I've always used Futaba or Hitec so I'm not sure if there's "something I should know". Thanks.

the same problem here, it appears its the latest batch of HD arms as the old arms work even on the 8711 .

Marty,

That's a problem with the H9 servos arms on the JR servos. The problem is, I think, that the anodizing, which looks like its done after machining, adds just enough thickness to make it a really tight fit. Believe it or not, what I do is put the arm on loosly, start the screw, line up the arm where it needs to be, and then use the screw to carefully pull the arm on. If you need to get the arm off later, you can do so by using a screw driver on one side, and the servo arm on the other, to gently "rock" the servo arm up and off.

I've used the H9 arms on more than a dozen 84/8611's using this method and its always worked OK. After the arm has been off and on a few times, it will get easier to the point where you can almost put it on or off by hand...

Bob

ps. I got your emails and I'll respond one of these days, but its the end-of-the-semester crazyness at work...

You should use the JR double clamp aluminum arm. This arm will compensate for differences in JR's output shaft.

BTW 8711 has the same gear train as the 8611 and 8611A.

Thanks guys. I'll give it another try tonight with a little more elbow grease.

Bob, I was starting to try the screw down method but just wanted to ask here to make sure there wasn't some quirky incompatibility between the 8611's and these arms. No problems on my ignored emails. I'm married so I'm used to it.

Marty.... Bob is right on the money, just use the screw to seat the arm. They actually loosen up after the first seat.

Marty,
I had the same problem and I kept trying to move the arm a few degrees one way and then a few degrees the other
way and it still would not slide on easily. I then flip the arm totally around and was able to get it to fit with out
a lot of pressure. This is does not always work, but give it a try if you haven't already. AK

Thanks guys. I tried the screw down method and that did the trick.
