What do you use to clean your plane?
OK ready for this one. I always used Simple Green until I had a slight mishap with the tall grass at the end of our runway. Made a few cuts in my covering. Well when I went to do the patch I had to clean up the area around the wing for the patch to adhere to.
Reached under the kitchen sink for some cleaner to make the adhesion area grease free and the first thing i grabbed was Pathmark Foaming Bathroom Cleaner. I read the label and said would not scratch so thought oh well I'll try it. Looked like was really doing a great job. Well I put the patch on and I have never had a patch stick with that amount of tightness. I then proceeded to clean up the whole plane with it. Even did a nice job streak free on the canopy. Try it was cheep too a buck a can.

i use what ever the guy next to me brought LOL actually a left over spray bottle with a TSP of dawn and a couple ounces of rubbing alcohol with the rest water and an old beach towel works just fine. the beach towel just gets washed once in a while with the blue jeans.

Fly it in the rain. If it doesn't come clean, you don't have a big enough engine.
I'll use whatever is at hand. Mostly it's cheap window cleaner, but that does leave streaks. If it's a new plane and I just want to admire it, a final wipe with rubbing alcohol does the job.

Gotta give another vote to the baby wipes. Started using them a couple years ago after I read the tip. Could not believe how well they worked and how long a tub lasted. I’m willing to bet I killed 3-4 rolls of paper towel to one batch of baby wipes.
The added bonus is having something to quickly clean my hands too.

All this talk about baby wipes makes you wonder what the fluid is that is in them. I wouldnt mind just having the fluid recipe and filling my own spray bottle with it. I have heard them advertised with having "Lanoline" or something as its "conditioner"...is that the missing ingredient we could be looking for? Where's the chemists around this place......

Windex, or the store brand equivilent. It seems to work good, although I am tempted to try some of these formulas that you guys are using.

when I finish a new plane I polish it with a Teflon based polish ,I use on motorcycles. This puts a coating that the fuel residue doesnt stick to very well. Makes clean up much easier.
