RE: What Do You Guys Think
It looks good, why did you tear it down? A lot of what an engine looks like, and runs like is how it is tuned and run. If you are constantally over reving it it will come apart and look like crap. One of my airplane engines has 10+ gallons run through it with multiple owners, Its not 100% by any means, but it is still pulling around the little Telemaster after all of thoes years.

It looks pretty good and I can tell your useing after run oil because you have all that residue on the con rod nd crank. Give your engine a good cleaning, take some carb cleaner nd blast all that stuff out. Then lube it back up with some wd-40. I'm workin on my 7th gallon with my 2.5r nd its in my buddies jato at the moment. [>:]

if he has tht much gap at TDC i'd be very worried...
the engine looks great, seems you've been using a fair bit of after run oil though.

I wanted to tear it down for some inspection and cleaning, I put after run oil in it after every use, maybe to much. The engine still has good compression. I didn,t have it at TDC in the first pic. Btw whats the best way to get the sleeve out with out scratching it? Thanks

To get the sleeve out put a wire tire through the exhaust with the piston BDC then turn the flywheel. AS you turn it the pistol pushes the wire tie against the exhaust port in the sleeve and out the top. Slick trick!

It worked, I got the piston and sleeve out. It looked pretty gunked up in there, and the piston looks a bit burnt. I gave it a good cleaning, Im suprized at how much compression is still left. Here is a few pics.

I'm not sure how you are able to tell compression with the engine apart. You can get a real good idea of pinch by how far into the sleeve the piston will go but pinch and compression are two different, though related, things. It is entirely possable to have fantastic pinch and very poor compression. You canot however, have good compression w/o good pinch.

By bad, it has very good pinch. When I turn the fly-wheel with the engine in its hard to turn, so I guess that means it has good compression right?
