Will this 3.3 EVER hold a tune?!
I bought my truck in January and didn't really use it too much. Now that its in the 80s and 90s I've been taking it out almost every day just to get the trans and everything adjusted properly. Every time I take the thing outside it has to be tuned almost from factory settings. I had a really good tune last night, but today I take it out and the whole tune is out of whack. I am just under my first gallon and always take care of it by following temps and what not. Will it start to hold a tune when I get some more fuel through it, or should I just use it as an excuse to get the RB 323 motor?

Sounds pretty much like any Traxxas engine, every time I took out my TRX 2.5 it needed a re-tune. Funny thing is I didnt use my Savage all of last summer cause I went on vacation, I come back and fire that .25 up and its all ready to go Get the RB[>:]

Humidity changes seem to really effect my 2.5, temperature I can usually use some guesstimations on the high speed and keep it in tune. My dad's 3.3 is the exact same way, with the except of the humidity.

I use Top Fuel 33%. I would feel like Im wasting my money buying the os .18tm because the performance is about the same as the 3.3. If I do swap the motor its going to be something where there is no question that I've swapped my motor.

My new Revo 3.3 wouldn't hold a tune a all. It was a crap engine right out of the box. This is my 4th Traxxas....and the wort for tuning. All your problems will be solved by getting a OS .18TM.

i have been dealing with traxxas engines for over 6 years and i never had seen or have had any issues of these engine not holding a tune,i have ran these engines on 100 degree days and 70 degree days and all i had to do is adjust the high needle an 1/8 inch or so either way, it does take patience when tuning these engines and when you hit the sweet spot on tuning these engines come alive, im not saying that all traxxas engines are perfect i just have not experienced any that are not

i just ordered my RB 523. im excited. my 2.5r would never hold a tune. i had it perfect...then i come back the next day and it is all out of wack. so that eventually blew up and i tried 2 O.S. 18TM's...took them both to hobby shops...and the guy said they were so tight a pull start wouldnt even turn it over. so i am now trying the RB 523. wish me luck

RE: Will this 3.3 EVER hold a tune?!
It was probably the humidity that messed me up. I used to be able to throw it outside an rip it around the street whenever I felt like it when the temps outside were cold. Now the temp is pretty different every day and the humidity has been changing like crazy. When that 3.3 is in the sweet spot its really fast, but when the tune is messed up it can be beat by a crawling baby. My bank told me to take a month off from paying my car payment so Im going to get the RB 323 probably. I would get the 523, but I heard that motor will give my truck problems else where.
