Default Tekno Throttle Linkage & Mount Installed

I finally found the time to install this today. It works really nice. The only flaw with the .18tm I found was that the carb slider post thing doesn't have a ball cup for the new linkage to grip to. I solved that problem by filling the cup with CA glue when I had it where I wanted it. P.S. I am aware that my brake linkage isn't installed in the pictures. lol

Looks nice...wonder how it will work with a side pipe.

Thanks, the website says it still works with some side pipe setups.

Thanks for the update/pics

Can you tell me tho, what difference does it make exactly to the travel on the carb? Is it a smoother action or just longer travel?

Thanks!

6speed,
Do you still have the throttle pull from the Traxxas motor? You know the one with the ball on it. I am asking because, the way you have it CA glued now is not going to hold up. I would hate to see a nice ride like that become a runaway.

I second that especially since the ca glue has no give to it and that twists everytime you pull the throttle. I would at least put a return spring on the carb not the linkage for now. That linkage looks to be at a much better angle now but very unprotected.

Before I installed this I couldn't get the slider to open more than 80%, and it wouldn't close all the way. Now it opens to where I can't even see the slider in the carb and closes all the way in. I don't have the ball cup piece because I sold my stock motor to pay for this one. Maybe I'll check on Tower and see if I can just order that one piece. I figured it would hold up ok because that part isn't actually twisting, the part that links to the blue piece is what twists. I would really hate to have it take off though, so I'll definately check for that ball cup piece.

Ok I found it.

Do you think it will hook right up to the .18tm?

Sweet thanks for the reply, I'd like to help with your question but don't have any experience with the .18 motor

I found a good rubber band and wrapped it around the carb a couple of times. If for some reason the glue pops apart the rubber band will close the carb all the way. I have the rubber band far enough (I hope) that it won't be affected by the heat. Maybe when I get paid this week I'll order the stock arm and see if it mounts up to the .18tm.

Here's my take on a Tekno style bellcrank for my 18TM. Made my own bellcrank with an old modified electric motor bearing sandwiched between two pieces of G10 fiberglass epoxied together. Used the ballcup and threaded wire from the micro servo. Trimmed the ballcup to be as short as possible so that it all fits inside the roll bar. I also used a Dubro EZ connector used for airplanes and a collar. Lets everything move freely. The bellcrank is on the outside hole of the engine mount. The thing works flawlessly, I already have 11 tanks since this mod and no signs of wear on any of the components.

I'm pretty sure that using a short ballcup with an EZ connector and a collar on a Tekno bellcrank would work and the bellcrank could be on the outside hole of the engine mount bringing everything inside the roll bar. Someone is gonna have to try it.
