Old Pica Duelist CG Location
After being given an old Pica Duelist (may even be a Platt Duelist) I am refreshing the plane for another life. This was glassed and painted. I am interested in obtaining the CG location.
I will be flying the economy route, twin O.S. 40 LA's. After reading the huge Duelist post I don't feel like discussing incidence degrees!!!
Any help would be appreciated. I will keep it with fixed gear.

I have both versions of the early Duellist. Just checked the plans, both note the CG as 4 3/8" from the leading edge of the wing, or 4 3/8" from the back side of F-3 if you have fillets keeping you from an accurate LE location.

And I was the main instigator of the incidence discussion on the Duellist thread. So, a suggestion.
Since you are installing new engines consider altering the mounts, bring the engines to 2* up thrust, relative to the fuiselage datum line. This would make them match the wing's 2* positive (you would actually make them zero relative to the wing) and you would then effectively have the 0-0-0 settings of the Mk II version.
However, if this is your first twin you might want to leave them alone, it is a bit easier to fly with the downthrust. Inverted flight is harder, but upright flight is a little easier.
I know, you said you didn't want to hear about it. Sorry.

Bill, thanks for the reply. I am leaving the motor mounts as they were since they were still in the nacelles.
I want to kick myself for not thinking of this with my first post, do you happen to know the throws for ailerons, rudder and elevator?
Thanks again for your feedback. I'll post a few shots of the old girl. It must have been real pretty in her days.
I plan on flying her for a few times before I decide to repaint it as an F-7 or Mess 246.

Dual rates? I generally use a deflection meter and don't worry about inches. High 30 to 35 degrees on A/E, and cut to 20 degrees on low rates. The rudder stays with 40 to 45 degrees defection on both. Never restrict rudder throw on a twin.
You may never need it, but when you do rudder throw you don't have is like altitude above you.
I know for sure you'll like it.
