Using Mobil Racing 2T - re-tune your needles !!!
I had a dead stick on my Ultra RC and slightly damaged the cowling. It was almost a great save but the thing went up the embankment of a road and flipped over on its back onto the road. Scratched up the canopy and colwing. Knicked the tip of a prop (threw it away).
My theory is that after going from Pennsoil aircooled to Mobil 2T that the engine went lean. I heard from RCbugman that you have to richen the needles when you switch because the syntho does not combust, so it causes the mixture to be lean.
Lesson learned: Re-tune after switching from Petro oil to Mobil Racing 2T, especially if you are tuning all the richness out of the low end. I don't leave mine rich. It runs better if you tune it out.

also do, when the weather changes drastically.
When the engine needs change in jetting without any reason, the internal filter is clogged, or e carb rebuild kit is due.
It pays to observe your engine all the time and be weary. No single RC engine will hold it's setting indefinately, despite the fact that some want you to believe otherwise.
PS Pat, I miss your avatar! Kind of liked it.

Thanks Pe. I was quite reluctant to change the name or the avatar but alas, future commercial interests of mine could have created a lot of trouble had I still been using it. I'm not big enough to fight city hall when they start nit picking...
Right now I've got a couple in mind but I can't get any of them sized to fit this damn mini window...Lord knows I've been trying.

It ran ok on the ground, then while flying started to act up. It must have heated up and leaned out. It flamed out during a transition. The 2nd mistake was not landing right away when it started acting up...it was kind of subtle but still. Lesson learned.

after about an hour running time after the change in oil brand/type, the engine may act up again, because then all the old oil is about gone. Be prepared for any changes and don't push it too hard until all settled down well.
