Take a look at this. I made a map of where you will be, and where I am, and it appears that we won't be so close. I'm guession a 3 hour drive at least. Take a look:

QUALITY VS. PRICE VS. SET-UP
There are three parts to a new kit.
1. Import or Domestic - If you go with a domestic like a Losi or Associated there will likely be better local and national parts support through distributors and hobby shops. Import manufacturers like Kyosho have may have less local parts support or part droughts.
2. The old saying "you get what you pay for." If you go cheap you get cheap and the cost to upgrade with graphite or aluminium will cost you more in the long run.
3. Set-up - While it is cool to be different, the benefit to conforming by purchasing a popular kit will help with set-up because more people are running them at more tracks. It is relatively easy to pull set-up sheets for Losi's or Associated's from their websites and fast local racers will typically share their set-ups.
My personal suggestion if you are planning on 1/10 nitro truck racing is to invest in a race ready XXX-NT Drake Edition or a Factory Team RC10GT.

I'm from Michigan and I'd love to move back there, but there's no stinkin' jobs there. If I could find a decent paying job, I'd move back there in a heart beat.

What I meant is that when you get a quality kit that includes all of the titanium, graphite composite and quality aluminium parts you will save money in the long-run over buying a sport kit and then upgrading it with all of the corresponding hop-ups.

i really really like the mugen n its about the same price as the factory team but the ft comes with the ae pipe and the mugen dosen so its like a trade off n i cant find a setup sheet for the yltima st type r newere. not een kyosho hav 1
