Has anyone else noticed that most people who diss great companies praise traxxas?

I cannot say anything about the MLST but my eight has never let me down

Any car will break if you run it into a pole
That had to be added, they don't know how good the cars they have are because they actually handle well and are more for a race track.

i bought the mini T some time ago, but cant say im too happy with the quality. Gearbox is noisy and the shock spacers dont stay on. I expected better for such an established company.

The Mini-T was never really high quality, but my JRXS and my BK1 are/were high quality machines and I love/loved them.

Yeah my mini-T isnt great either, but it was $99 - and its really good for that price. I can understand some people wanting more out of the MLST because it is more expensive, but hey, you also have to treat it better and drive with some skill.

People spend so much time worrying about hop ups, upgrades, mods, etc, - but I dont think enough people spend enough time just honing their driving skills.

Racing, and even bashing, is as much about the driver as it is the car

Every company goes through phases of love and hate, in any hobby. It seems as if you cant say anything bad about a Losi car without getting slammed, just like you cant say you like your Traxxas car without getting slammed.

In the end its all about what suits the driver more, and all companies have various cars across various price points - and yes some cars are built better than others. Though you cant say "all cars by xxx are better than all cars by xxx" Its very hard to compare cars that have radically different audiences, designs, and price points.

Horizon has owned the Losi brand for 7 or 8 years... lol

I find most breakage - on any rc - is due to two things. The first being an inexperienced driver. Someone that can go over that big jump and land on the tires every time will have a vehicle that will far outlast the guy that lands on his lid everytime. The second is where someone takes an r/c and drives it in a manner that it was not designed for. Like taking a 1/18th scale and running it around in an area much better suited for 1/8th scale.

I have always believed that anyone that pronounces any R/C as total crap - or the opposite saying something is the absolute best - has just crossed the bu11sh1t line and can no longer be taken seriously. JMO

I can't say Losi is a bad brand, but the MLST I have was pretty weak. I've stripped the differential gears numerous times. This is an acknowleged problem both on various threads and by Losi themselves. If you call them, they will send you replacement gears free, so in my opinion, they do have good customer service. They've also supposed to have fixed this on the MLST2 because now they have metal gears. My servo's on the MLST also have something wrong with them, becuase they won't track straight after a hard turn one way or another, I've heard this is a common problem also. I haven't replaced the servos yet, I just either compensate by driving, but it's a pain.

My Micro-T however is rock solid. I haven't had a problem with it yet. I have heard that Losi products are a little more fragile than other brands, but my experience with them, is that they do have good customer service, and if you take the time to build up their cars, they can be good cars. But I can see were people would be disappointed with Losi, when their cars keep breaking.

The mini's are not strong out of there box purly because they are small and they sell at such low prices they cant make them very strong with out useing to much of there profit. Once you get the right hopups for them then they are alot of fun..

I disagree about the customer service. I was not really that jaded by the lousy quality control. Well, now that I hear they just sell them being defective like they do, I am. I was not so enlightened about the MLST when I called customer service. I was on the phone, transfered, asked to call other numbers, and that was almost 30 mins on my cell phone. Then, the head honcho as he proclaimed was not at all interested in the fact that the car had 40 seconds of use on a smooth trimmed lawn at a park. He did not want to send parts. He acted like I was lying. He was condesinding, and was unconcerned about me having a broken car. I explained again, it was new, he said this never happens and then said if I pack the whole box back up with everything, just like it was when I bought it and shipped it to IL, they would "look at it" OMG. I can buy multiple sets of upgrade gears for the price he wanted me to pay for shipping. Now, on the other hand: When I had a servo go out on my Savage, this is how the customer service at HPI handled it. Very very friendly, down to earth, asked for my address, sent me an upgraded servo fedex 2nd day, included stickers, and a thank you note. What a great company. It did not matter that the part had broken, but that I was a valued customer. Like I said, I will never ever give any of MY money to that Lousy company. I know some of you think I sound extreme or something, but I am not the kind of guy that just rolls over. I think everyone should know how they treat customers. And, how well HPI treats thier customers. I have 11 rc cars and am crazy about all aspects of the sport. 2 Helicopters, 2 planes, and believe me, if there was some ansphalt withing 15 miles, I would have a road car. However you choose, good luck. I am not selling cars to you, I am simply telling what experiences I had with the various ones I purchased and how I was treated by the companys who make and sell them.

To offer a counterpoint to TreeCat.
I have had nothing but exemplery service from Losi. They replaced the engine on my LST (one with a bad con-rod) without asking a single question. Just said send it in and we'll send you a new one. I had bought the truck 2nd hand and did not even have a recipt. It did not matter, they never even asked for one. I sent them a stripped down Mach .26 in a zip-loc bag and they returned me a brand new, in the box motor including a pullstart inside 10 days, door to door. The only thing I paid was the $4.65 postage with the US mail. They returned it UPS.
It's unfortunate that you were treated that way. I can attest that not everyone is. And, honestly, I don't know why you left it at that. I would have been in touch with someone higher up the food chain and not stopped until I recieved satisfaction. Very few of the people you get on the phone in the CS of any company are truly "head honcho" of anything outside of their own imagination. And even if they were a shift supervisor that's still pretty low on the corporate ladder.

I just hate it when some people come so attached to a company to where they belive there products are invisible, there for they think everyone who had a problem with the companies products are liars. No company is perfect, all cars break eventually, big or small, it happens.

well, lucky for me. I bought it at MYRCSUPPLY.COM. they are great, and just took it back. I am a very good customer, (I have a serious hobby spending problem) and they just ate it or decided to deal with Lousy themselfs. SO, I did learn alot in that week of annoyance. I do try to learn from my mistakes. I am glad you did not get burned by them. On the other hand, how long did the other motor last? Hopefully it was normal, not a defect like the first one.

I'm glad you were able to come out ok on that.
I currently have two Mach .26's (one is the exchenged engine) and both are running very strong. The Mach is a good little .26 size motor.

And the other side of that coin, of course, are the people who blindly hate a company because of a bad experence and refuse to acknowledge that they may indeed make a good product...

But you are right, no company is perfect. Either perfectly good or perfectly bad.

Firstly, why are you comparing a 1/18 to a 1/10th??? and im sorry to break it to you but the MLST has TWO motors TWO servos Twin deck alum chassis. The stampede is a box on wheels

And im sorry to break it to you again, but the MLST2 is twice as tough as the MLST and has better components all around. I will agree that it needs two new servos (which i have already done to mine) but you can buy it for exactly the same price as the old version.....
May as well admit to everyone, that in a sence, you've lost......
