I had a 4tec for a while. I enjoyed it. They are fast, but I guess they wouldnt make a great racer from what eveyone says. I just used it around town.

You can race it, it does take a bit of hop-ups to improve its handling. But as a street basher to practice with, it is not a bad car at all. I feel the 4-Tec is up there with the HPI R40 as for durability.

Here's my old 4tec. Just add the swaybars and get some new tires and youd be good to go.

Jim, I respect your opinion and I know the R40 isn't the toughest race car, but I can't let you compare it with a 4tec...the R40 is superior in every way except top speed out of the box (the R40 being 0mph due to the fact it's a kit).

Since I'm saying this, I better give my opinion about the 4tec hadn't i? I have nothing against the 4tec, it's great for what it does, cheap thrills up and down outside your house or in parking lots, REALLY fast. If that's what you want, then look no further, but in terms of quality/driveability, it's near the bottom of the pile. It's a good fun car though, it's not pretending to be anything it isn't (well, I suppose it does say 'race ready' on the box, that's a bit of a laugh), but still, it goes really fast, that's all some people want to do. Just buy some spare belts.

Its not that it is bad quality it just isnt made for racing. I never had one problem with mine except for the tires. It will hold up to some tough crashes. I know from experiance. Every time I crashed (as in fliping and rolling) I would hold down the brake untill it came to a complete stop. I dont know if that helped but it never broke.
