How short of a rod do you need? Is that with a Z-bend (on the servo side), or adjustable ball links on each end? I would just get some threaded couplers (they are made of chome plated brass), DuBro makes them, silver solder them onto whatever length of control rod you need. They come in several I.D. / thread sizes: .0625/2-56, .074/2-56, .095/4-40 or threaded rod stock would do as well.

Jamielt1, if it's a 450, no need to make them-- you can use off-the-shelf rods for the TRex, or you can get the ones that microHeli makes either from uH or from places like Helidirect. I've one flying with a microHeli rod, and one with a rod that I made from CF rod and Great Planes brass threaded couplers, CA and some thread to wrap; the latter one had a TRex rod on it until the ball link separated and the rod mated with the tail rotor (pieces flying everywhere, yes).

I got my dremel out, whacked off the proper amount (woah, wording there!) and then put in another z-bend... this is temporary till I can remember to find a threaded rod to replace it.
