What motor should I use?
I recently bought a World Model ARF. It's a 80" wingspan Zero Fighter. It's supposed to 15.5 lbs The suggested motor os a 160 glow moter. I fly in Colorado at around 5000' altitude. Is that enough power here? If I went to a gas moter what could you reccomend?

I've regularly watched one fly here with a DL50. It seems to be a pretty good match. We are close to Sea Level and humid during the summer months here
(Actually - We're close to Sea level during the Winter Months too - it's just that the Humidity solidifies
)

For scale flying I think it would be fine. Most of the guys here tend to not do much "Scale" flying so they like to have a little more power than is absolutely necessary. (Eg - A lot of the 35-50cc models have 65cc engines in them)
I don't have much experience with models at such altitudes (at those altitudes I'm usually at the controls af a 100% scale "model) so maybe someone can chip in their $0.02 worth on that.

Maybe a strong running ZDZ 40 would do the trick? Not too sure about your altitude though.. The smaller size/footprint of the engine makes it a good candidate for scale, tight fitting cowls without the need for heavy hackage!

I also live in colorado the thought at the club that I fly at if it recomended a 160 go one bigger if you go gas find one that is as big I have a 120 size pt-19 and I have a evolution 26gt in it I ballanced fine. I think anything 35cc and above would be good. i am also putting a rcs 140 on my balsa nova it has an 80 inch wingspan. the only thing that I can say if you go up on the engine upgrade the control surface hardware, servos ect.... more speed more stress...

I fly at 5140 ft elevation with the DL 50 on 15 lb plane and 14 lb plane and the DL has way lots of power. Sound like it would be a good combo for you.
