Good bashing suspension setup
Hi people
I was hoping someone could advise me on a good bashing suspension setup, I dont race very often but I would like to keep the pushrods set in the middle position. I am also using offset rims so the car is a bit wider and sits lower.
When I got my revo I immediately bought black springs for the rear and tan springs for the front, I also but 45wt shock oil in. With this setup I was constantly breaking and bending shock shafts at the rear and also broke the P1 rocker set, I then bought P2 rockers and kept the same spring and oil setup, I continued to break shock shafts, the TiN ones lasted a bit longer. I most probably broke about 9 shafts.
I changed the setup to tan springs at the rear and the green springs at the front, running about 40wt front and rear. Also I used TiN shafts at the rear again and havent broken anything since, but now the truck bottoms out even on small jumps 4ft plus. I would like to stiffen it up a bit so I dont bottom out so easily and avoid breaking suspension components regularly.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

RE: Good bashing suspension setup
Almost any setup that eliminates bottoming out will result in broken parts (most often shafts). On a big jump the chassis slapping the ground absorbs the impact. If you set the suspension up to eliminate bottoming out on the large jumps, all of the energy of the impact has to be absorbed by suspension components rather than the chassis, which will result in excessive parts breakage.

Have you cranked down on the shock springs? This should aid in jump performance.
I run 5owt with black and tan with good results.

RE: Good bashing suspension setup
i run blue back silver front with 60 WT oil, and as much pre load as i can get, for jumping it is supurb, very nice landings, for everything else it's a bit useless, i kept breaking the shock shafts with the stock oil which is why i went to 60 WT, i'm not thinking of going back to 45. once i get her going again.
