The new motor of choice?
I took a break for a few months ,,more than I wanted, but noticed a new motor of choice..The RB TM523? I thought this motor has been around, maybe Im wrong? It used to be the OS .18tm that everyone said was the drop in of choice. I have read that they are discontinued and hate to see that.I bought it going by the great reviews in this forum from you guys, and love it..I dont have a need for a new motor right now,but would like to hear about this new motor of choice and what made it so popular since I was last around..Sounds great from what I hear but still cant even find a link on the package deal(motor, pipe, mount) for the revo that I read about.
Is this the new motor of choice? Can the new O.S. compare?

RE: The new motor of choice?
I've never been much of an O.S. fan, and after seeing a .18tm in a Revo I was not impressed. I haven't seen a .21tm in action yet though, or a rb523 but...I can say from what I've seen so far I'd get the rb523 over the 18tm hands down. For about the same price as the os .21tm...I'd still get the RB instead. RB makes a FANTASTIC motor...it's been a leading engine manufacturer for years for a reason. Great customer service coming from them as well. I also saw a OS .18 in a HPI MT2 and wasn't at all impressed with that motor/truck combo either.

RE: The new motor of choice?
i think i may have actually been a big player in gaining the RB some popularity, i bought one a few months back, and i suppose i pushed it on the forums, when my pop dropped a picco .26 max in his revo i did a comparo, and in all out performance the RB was better there as well, so i told anyone who would listen about the engine and why i liked it, since i got my RB a lot of people seemed to have jump ship from the picco.
the RB coming with everything needed to install it certainly helps, $279 for a kit with the engine, complete exhaust system and the engine mount isn't bad going, and it's ez start compatible, and the performance is excellent, with 16/38 gearing i timed mine at 55 MP/h, and it still pulled wheelies off the line (mine has since died due to my air filter falling off lol), and there is a video floating around of a a TM523 powered revo hitting 72 MPH at a drag strip, on top of that RB makes some very high quality engines, the 523 is no exception.
also just so you know, O.S has discontinued the .18 TM to make wya for the .21 TM, which is $260 U.S at this time, way way to much for what you get, although here in australia you can get the for $299, which is what you pay for a new TRX 3.3...
