Just wondering what your favorite brand of latex paint is for painting warbirds. Specifically GAS-powered birds... not glow. So fuelproof issues should relate to gasoline not glowfuel. Experiences/stories welcome!

I like Sherwin Williams exterior flat, or semi gloss. I have tried the Behr brand and found it not to be as duarable as Sherwin Williams. The local store went out of their way to match a color chip when I told them what I was going to use the paint for.

"Your going to paint a radio control airplane with house paint?"

Vince,

Thanks, I've heard both good and bad on Behr, but nothing but good on Sherwin Williams. I think I'll stick to Satin or Semi-gloss finishes, flats are too "scuff-prone" for me (except for smoke weathering).

Neo,

Roy V suggests using Benjamin Moore latex paint in his article from model airplane news.

While I haven't tried this route myself, we can hardly argue with his results!!

Just finished a 1/4 SNJ with Behr Exterior Gloss (Yellow). This paint is not at all resistant to gasoline. Raw gasoline will immediately soften the paint. Paint had been cureing for about two weeks. Very disapointed.
