Default another quick antenna routing question

Is there a preferred location to have the antenna wire exit the fuse? The plane is a 1/3 scale extra with a glass fuse. I'm kicking around a few ideas and just wanted to know if there is a "best" location.

Thanks,

Ben

With that large a plane, why not leave it inside? Run some 'nyrod' down the fuse and slide the antenna inside it.

You mean that the antenna doesn't have to exit the fuse at all? I just always assumed the antenna should exit the plane.

Any extra info on this subject?

Thanks again,

Ben

I have always left my antennas running through the fuse. I never did care for the look of it on the outside.

Use some nyrod like tailskid has mentioned. It will keep it nice and neat and stay in one spot.

I wander why I thought it had to exit the plane? Learn something new every day. Thanks for the info, guys!

Ben,

If you are cheap like me....I tape some soda straws from McDonalds together to make the conduit...it is easier to thread the antenna through because it has a large diameter.

Your LHS gets music wire in clear, lite plastic tubes. They usually throw them away.....guess what I use????

I have a few of the plastic tubes for RC car antennas, no problem there. I have about a million plastic pushrod tubes as well. Those always come in handy (but I never seem to use them for their intended purpose).

They say that METALLIC coverings could cause an issue if you leave the antenna wires inside. I can not say I know this to be fact, but something to keep in mind.

Ben,

I'm no expert in this field, but I would be carefull where the antena is in the fuse. If you are using metalic pull/pull cables and have servo extentions going to the rear of the fuse, they can cause problems. Extensions and pull/pull cables can act like antena's causing interference. I use an Interairco antena that I shorten and exit behind the canopy.
